So alot has happened in the past week and a half or so... two amazingly awesome weekends with lots of fun stories that will eventually make it up here.. but I have a test in Solid Mechanics tomorrow.. actual work aahh! So I have to study. Suffice to say I am still alive and having a great time and currently the sun is shining! Happy Halloween everybody and as Renee reminded me, Happy Reformation Day! Peace out!

So I've been rather obsessed lately with these Soduku puzzles. They are incredibly addicting. And my flatmate just had to buy two books of them, so it offers me hours and hours of pointless entertainment. I think the reason I like them so much is because they remind me of all the little random logic puzzles we used to do at my grandparents house. I loved those things. And these too... I just have to limit myself. Arg anyway I just thought I'd let you all know my most recent form of procrastination.
On another much more exciting note, I am going to Skye today!!! Liz came out from California yesterday afternoon and we are going camping with Josiah and Thom, a friend from the CU. We are going to drive up there (Thom is getting a car!) and we will be up there until Tuesday, because we have non teaching days on Monday and Tuesday. I am way excited but a little afraid that I am going to freeze. Skye is an Island off the West coast of Scotland and is supposed to be really cold and rainy, but also very beautiful. So there should be some more exciting photos up from there when I get back, but for now, I have to go and take a test in Gaelic! Whoo Hoo!!!
So I have been up to Arthur's Seat a couple times... actually I've only been up to the top once.. when it was really rainy, but we did wander through the park and check out some ruins on another nice and clear day.. when this picture was taken... this is in the valley between the Crags and Arthur's Seat and there was a patch of purple flowers which I originally though was heather, but after trudging through the long grass, discovered that it was not. But they are decently pretty.
Here is Josiah sitting in the grass as is his custom. The hill here looks a bit more ominous than it is... but after a little ledge, it does drop off pretty quickly down to the Swan Pond(as I like to call it, don't really know the official name).
I think I like this picture mostly for the look on Josiah's face and Fiona's oblivion. In the corner there you can see a bit of the ruins.
This one is from the summit, the day that we went up in the wind and rain and we found this cleft in the rock to have lunch. Dave and Josiah are enjoying their lunches tremendously.
This is in the same cleft at the same lunch. I couldn't be bothered to get up to take a proper picture, but I kinda like the effect of having Ida in the forefront and Fiona in the background, you can see a bit how windy it is by Ida's hair.
There is a picture of all of us at the top on Josiah's website. I like it because we all look really bad... it was so hard to keep my eyes open for the guy to take a picture, the stinging rain was pretty horrendous. But all in all a fun trip! So that is my recap on Arthur's Seat fun. I especially like that the two times I was there had completely different weather. hehe. I was gonna try and do a "guess which day this picture was taken!" thing.. but I decided not to. If you really want, you could just pretend I didn't tell you when they were and guess and then see what it really is. But that would be only if you are really bored or procrastinating... which I know some of you are ; D!
So Fiona and I went to Chocolate Soup today... it's a little shop right off the Royal Mile. It was so delicious, but not quite like this picture.. it had more cream and was spilling over the sides of the bowl. I got the Mint Chocolate flavored one that came with After Eights (chocolate mint squares). I definitely reached my Chocolate Bliss Point. Ahh...anyway I just had to say how amazing it was. On another note, if you are on Facebook... put something on my wall..there is nothing there and I feel very lonely... and the more random the better!! I hope all of you will someday have the experience of your own Chocolate Bliss Point!
So I officially really messed up my computer, but with the help of my flatmate Fiona (aka she let me use her laptop) I will be able to post some pictures! That's right tramplining! On Sunday my flatmate Fiona dragged me to a trampolining club training session. It was pretty ridiculous, but very fun. I now have some mad moves to show off when I get back to the States. But I don't think I'm gonna join because I'm too cheap and it costs money, like £35 and then also a gym membership which is like £40somthing. Too heavy for me. So instead I'm going shopping tomorrow, need to get some boots or rubbers and a waterproof jacket with a hood(possibly furry). It has been raining like mad for the past couple days... and I have my heater on...my room is like a sauna.. but very enjoyable. I hope you all enjoyed my post in Gaelic.. maybe I'll add to it when I learn some more phrases. Anywho I think I'm gonna go get some coffee from the chaplaincy and work on a suduku puzzle... I'm slowly getting addicted. Ah well, what is one more thing to waste time on? Cross your fingers that I will get some pictures up soon!

So we are in the middle of the third week of classes, but there really isn't any homework here. I mean there are tutorials usually once every week or every other week, but other than that there is just a bit of reading and lectures. Most of our assesment comes from end of the year projects, essays, or tests. So there really is no homework to speak of. So far I have made one submission in my Environmental Engineering class, one assignment in Gaelic, I have a tutorial tomorrow in Scottish Ethnology and I have had 3 tutorials in Solid Mechanics which we basically look at before hand and ask questions during the tutorial. So I guess I kinda like this system now, but will like it less as the end of the semester rolls around. I have to say so far that Gaelic is my favorite class... it is so cool, but I should probably go memorize the colors... so good evening all!
Ok, so on Saturday, Renee, Fiona, and I decided to go to a Ceildh at Carrubers Church on the Royal Mile. It was for their student welcome weekend and I am certainly not one to turn down a Ceildh, or any kind of dancing for that matter. On the way there some girls asked us where Potterrow was (it is one of the student unions) and I was able to give them accurate directions, even remembering to say to cross the "car park." It was so class. And then on Sunday, the rugby team went to Aberdeen (3 hours away up the East coast) and we soundly defeated the other team 40-nil. Not to mention that I played front row (hooker and prop) the entire game.. so I'm a little sore today, but it was totally worth it. Well I'm off to class...Cheers!
