Post Spring Break
So, today is the first day back from Spring break.. we are approaching the home stretch. It is crazy how time flies. Yesterday I went to a colorguard show at my high school... it was so surreal. I was so involved in it when I was in high school I guess I never really asked myself why I was doing it or anything.. I just enjoyed it and was good at it, so I stuck with it and excelled. Watching some of the shows yesterday, I was struck with just how weird it is. Some of the show concepts were way out there.. I was surprised that the guard members and parents even went along with the instructors idea, but then I never really questioned the shows that I did either.. I mean they definitely were never that crazy... but what is the point of spinning flags and rifles and sabres? Is it all a show? Is it supposed to give you some sense of worth? Meet new people? Give you a sense of achievement? On this same line of logic... what is the point of sports? Entertainment? Competition? Something to strive for? Something to give our lives meaning? And I think that all of these are reasons for different people, but why was I so into colorguard in high school and now am so apart from it? If there was a decent guard in my area now, would I be in it? And I guess I don't really know, but I am very happy with where the Lord has brought me and in giving up guard, I have gained so much in spending more time with my Savior and a little less time pursuing things that I think will make me happy.
Psalm 57
1Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
6They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.
7My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
10For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
11Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
I love the King James version.. tehehe.
