An Old Fashioned Girl

I just finished reading this book and I liked it very much!! Molly and Martha both claim it as one of their favorite books and Martha, Renee and I got it for Buck for his birthday this year. So, suffice to say I decided to borrow it. I was enjoying it so much that I lost track of time and actually missed a class. I think one of the reasons I like it so much is because it really appeals to the girlish romanticism that has always flourished in me. Also seeing a character like Polly do what she can to help others and to struggle against her own self conciousness and other issues is very encouraging. I also really loved the way Louisa May Alcott would put in her own interjections to the reader, such as her plan in the last chapter to "pair off everyone she could lay hands on." It was also nice to see how Polly waited through hard and sometimes lonely times before things worked out for the better. Especially because I'm not very good at waiting for anything. Anyway, overall quite enjoyable and a nice break from the Christian Literature that I have been reading lately (thanks to an influx of 8 books from Urbana).
